La Pagerie, Tropical Garden Hotel

★★★★ · Pointe-du-Bout, Trois-Îlets

Located in the heart of lively Pointe-du-Bout, in Trois-Îlets, the La Pagerie hotel pays tribute to Joséphine de Beauharnais, Napoleon's first wife, born Marie Josèphe Rose Tascher de La Pagerie. This iconic hotel, a fixture of the Martinique landscape for more than 40 years, is loved as much for its ideal location (steps from the Creole village, the marina, restaurants, bars, shops and even a casino) as for its friendly atmosphere and consistent hospitality, provided by the same owners for 15 years now. The hotel also charms with its beautiful tropical garden and lush greenery, which create a true oasis of relaxation.

La Pagerie has no more than 100 rooms, some of them on 2 floors and able to sleep up to 4 adults. Recent renovations of the bar (2023) and the rooms (2024) add a modern touch to an already charming place. La Pagerie offers three dining options: the Pitaya restaurant, the lobby bar and the Palm Bar by the pool, so you can choose a half-board or full-board plan. And thanks to free parking, it's easy to set off and explore Martinique's treasures at your own pace!

Hôtel Bambou

★★★ · Pointe-du-Bout, Trois-Îlets

Hôtel Bambou is a warm and colourful spot right on the beach in Trois-Îlets, with direct access to the white sand and towel and lounge chair service for total comfort!

Tucked into lush greenery, the property reveals a real garden filled with bamboo, birds of paradise, marigolds and other exotic plants. The hotel has 153 rooms, 10 of which are specially designed for guests with reduced mobility (as is the whole property, which is fully accessible). Offered on a half-board plan, the hotel lets you enjoy every day worry-free, between hearty breakfasts and typical Creole suppers. For more privacy, villas are also available, with the same services as the main hotel. Adults looking for peace and quiet will love the exclusive “Culture Créole” section with its beautiful infinity pool overlooking the sea. Between the two sections, Place Makrélaj brings together the hotel restaurant, a bar and a spa, among other things.

Pierre & Vacances, Village Sainte-Luce

★★★ · Sainte-Luce

Located in Sainte-Luce, just 25 km from the airport, Pierre & Vacances' Village Sainte-Luce is an excellent option for families, groups of friends or independent travellers looking for a peaceful stay. Set right on the seafront and wrapped in lush greenery dotted with tropical flowers, the property offers 180 spacious apartments that can sleep up to six people. Every unit has a kitchenette on the balcony, including a dishwasher, for both comfort and independence. The two-bedroom apartments are on the upper floors (note: no elevator), while the ground-floor studios can be connected.

On site, several plans are available, from room only to breakfast, half board (with wine included at supper!) or even full board for groups. Families will appreciate the many activities for kids from age 3 up to teens of 17, as well as the entertainment at the pool (aquafit, games, etc.). The resort also has a tennis court and two restaurants: a main buffet and an Italian-inspired restaurant with a generous pizza menu.

Sable Bleu Boutique Hôtel

★★★★ · Le Marin

Facing one of the most beautiful bays in Martinique, Sable Bleu Boutique Hôtel is the perfect stop for travellers in transit or on a sailing stopover, and it stands out for its contemporary elegance and innovative concept. With only 16 rooms, this intimate hotel offers three categories: classic rooms (inner courtyard view), premium rooms (view of Le Marin bay) and superior rooms (more spacious, with the same stunning view of the bay).

The hotel rests on three pillars: art, eco-responsibility and connectivity. Every interaction, from check-in to ordering meals, goes through the mobile app, which also serves as your room key. Dining includes breakfast as well as meals in jars, available 24/7 to order through the app. All rooms are fully equipped with a safe, mini-fridge, coffee maker and clothes steamer. But the real gem of the place is the spectacular rooftop: bar, pool, elegant shaded furniture and a breathtaking view of Le Marin bay. The rooftop hosts cultural events and plans to offer grilled dishes soon, but it already has a lounge area that's perfect for enjoying a cocktail.

Villa Eden Roc

Le Diamant

Perched facing the sea, Villa Eden Roc is a luxurious, ultra-modern address, perfect for a peaceful stay. The estate is made up of 5 modern two-storey villas, each with 4 bedrooms (all with their own private bathroom), a fully equipped kitchen, a washer-dryer and a large terrace with outdoor furniture and an infinity pool offering a spectacular view of the Diamond Rock and the Sleeping Woman mountain. With no front desk, the place is all about discretion, while offering services on request such as catering or a private chef. Two one-bedroom apartments are also available, for a more intimate but equally refined stay.

Club Med Les Boucaniers

★★★★ · Sainte-Anne

Club Med Les Boucaniers, in Sainte-Anne, is the only all-inclusive resort in Martinique. Nestled in a lush coconut grove, it offers an idyllic setting with a white sand beach and a stunning view of the Diamond Rock.

Recently renovated, the resort offers modern rooms with Creole touches, a main bar, a theatre, a spa, a main buffet and an à la carte restaurant. Water sports lovers will be in their element with activities (included!) such as water skiing, wakeboarding, kitesurfing, jet skiing, snorkelling and paddleboarding. The sports facilities also include a gym, tennis courts and yoga classes. But it's really in the evening that the village comes alive, with theme nights as colourful as they are varied, leaving you with more than memorable memories!

Visits & outings

Distilleries

Visiting a distillery in Martinique means diving into the heart of the island's cultural and agricultural heritage. Among the must-see stops, the Depaz Distillery stands out not only for the quality of its rum, but also for its magnificent château dating from 1922, which evokes the elegance of another era. For a more committed experience, deeply rooted in Martinican identity, the Neisson Distillery in Le Carbet deserves a special mention: it's the only rum distillery on the island that isn't owned by a white family, and today it's recognized for its artisanal know-how, its environmental commitment and its rum, much sought after by connoisseurs. Still can't decide? Follow the “Route du Rhum” and visit the island's 17 distilleries!

Gardens

Martinique's botanical gardens let you discover all the richness and diversity of the island's tropical flora, only 20% of which is endemic! Among the must-sees, the Jardin de Balata wins you over with its careful design and impressive collection of exotic plants. It's a classic, beautifully kept botanical garden. By contrast, the Domaine d'Émeraude, nestled at the foot of Montagne Pelée, offers a more immersive and authentic experience, in the heart of wilder, less “manicured” nature. Short trails have been laid out there, giving visitors a livelier look at Martinique's ecosystem and the Creole garden, perfect for curious minds and nature lovers.

La Savane des Esclaves

La Savane des Esclaves is an open-air museum founded by Gilbert Larose, who is passionate about Martinican history. This 3-hectare site offers an immersion in 400 years of the island's history, through reconstructions of Indigenous and Creole villages, exhibits on the lives of enslaved people and traditional gardens. Visitors can discover traditional huts, old tools and explanatory panels (bilingual), offering an authentic glimpse of Martinican culture and heritage. A moving visit, but an important one.

Memorial to the 1902 disaster

Located in Saint-Pierre, the Mémorial de la catastrophe de 1902 movingly retraces the eruption of Montagne Pelée that devastated the city 123 years ago. Set on a historic site overlooking the bay, this museum presents objects, photos and powerful testimonies, answering the questions we all ask: What made this eruption such a tragedy? How could it have been avoided? And what impact did it have on Martinique's history?

The audio guide offers three options: the essential version, the detailed version, or the tragedy told for younger visitors.

Water activities

A stay in Martinique isn't complete without spending a little time on the water! The island offers a wide range of water activities from its many marinas: snorkelling in crystal-clear water, catamaran or luxury yacht outings, encounters with sea turtles, excursions to see dolphins and, with a bit of luck, whale watching at sea. Unforgettable experiences to discover the richness of Caribbean marine life.
